We all know that Montreal Canadiens General Manager, Kent Hughes is adjusting the pieces he sees fit to help rebuild the Canadiens organization. The job came with a laundry list of needs for the organization, the Habs currently sit dead last in the NHL. Hughes has been acquiring assets, both picks and prospects as step one of the rebuild.
Mailloux was a VERY controversial pick by the Habs former General Manager, Marc Bergevin. The pick itself caused quite a stir, especially after Mailloux had told teams not to select him due to his legal troubles in Sweden.
According to Hockey Insider, Jason Barbosa the Canadiens could be looking to trade Mailloux, because Habs Executive Vice-President Jeff Gorton criticized the Canadiens for the pick when he was working as an analyst for the NHL Network.
However, Habs reporter Apron Basu doesn't agree with that and believes General Manager, Kent Hughes will allow Mailloux an opportunity to earn a chance to make the team like all other prospects. Giving Mailloux a second opportunity instead of just shipping him off for the mistakes he made as a young 17-year-old in another country.
