Halfway through the second period Jacob Doty throws a huge hit that sent Jeffrey Veil to the ice hard. The hit occured after Veil tipped the puck deep into the zone, but never fully possessed the hit. Doty arrived after the puck had already left his stick.
On the play Doty was given a 5 minute major and a game misconduct for interference. Today the NHL Department of Player Safety announced the following:
Los Angeles' Jacob Doty will have a hearing tomorrow for Interference on San Jose's Jeffrey Viel.

This suspension will likely never be served as the 29-year-old Doty has never even sniffed the NHL at any point in his career.
