We see it time and time again that the NHL review team doesn't always remain consistent. From goaltender interference reviews to offside calls, the NHL system leaves a lot to be desired. More often than not when a play is reviewed it will always leave someone upset.
That's exactly what happened tonight during the Toronto Maple Leafs versus Buffalo Sabres tonight. The goal was scores late in the 1st period, with the Maple Leafs on the penalty kill. As Mitch Marner drops a pass to Mark Giordano, the Sabres defender slides into his net knocking it off it's pegs.
On the play Giordano whiffs on the shot, but it eventually rolls across the goal line.
The play was initially ruled no goal in the ice, but after review it was deemed to be a good goal. The Sabres were understandably upset with the call, but that doesn't matter and the Leafs took a 3-0 lead into intermission.
