Last night an incident in the crowd in Winnipeg drew the attention of the hockey world. As security attempted to escort two Colorado Avalanche fans from the arena things escalated into a physical altercation. A male fan attempted to intervene to protect the security guards, unfortunately that man was taken down by one person involved.

Upon falling the man's head crashed hard off the dasher board cutting him open. Police eventually arrived and assisted with the apprehension of the two parties involved.

Now Winnipeg police have provided an update on the charges laid against the parties.

A 34-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Assault x 2
- Resist Peace Officer

A 28-year-old female from The Pas is facing the following charges:

- Assault x 2
- Assault a Peace Officer
- Resist Peace Officer

Both were released on Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.

Both security guards were treated for minor injuries while the man who tried to intervene was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released. This is some good news for all of the injured parties.
