Ryan Reaves and Marcus Foligno drop the gloves for the first heavyweight tilt of the season
Ryan Reaves is widely considered one of, if not the top heavyweight in the NHL. The New York Rangers forward isn't afraid to drop the gloves with anyone when it makes sense for his team. With his Rangers leading the game 6-3, Reaves saw his opportunity to get his first fight of the season.
Marcus Foligno of the Minnesota Wild was happy to oblige Reaves. With approximately 7 minutes left in the 3rd period the two lineup across from one another. As soon as the puck is dropped it appears Foligno challenges Reaves, who is a more than willing combatant.
The two drop the gloves and exchange some solid shots before the fight is broken up by officials.
Both of the men received 5 minute majors on the play. The Rangers went onto win the game 7-3 and move to 2-0-0 on the season.
