Seattle Kraken make their next decision on where Shane Wright will play next
The 4th overall pick from this past years' draft is on his way back to the NHL. The Seattle Kraken have recalled Shane Wright after a short conditioning stint in the American Hockey League.
Wright has played seven games for the Kraken, scoring a single assist and compiling a +4 rating. He hasn't been able to earn the trust of head coach Dave Hakstol, averaging just 8:05 in ice time.
In five games with the Kraken's AHL affiliate Coachella Valley Firebirds, Wright scored four goals.
His advanced stats in his young NHL career haven't been great. Among 20 Seattle Kraken skaters who have played at least 50 minutes of ice-time this year, Wright ranks 14th in Expected Goals for Per 60 minutes. He is dead last among Kraken forwards.
To date three players from the 2022 NHL Draft class have made their NHL debuts. Wright, Montreal Canadiens winger Juraj Slafkovsky and Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman David Jiricek.
There is an expectation that the Kraken will make Wright available to Team Canada for this year's World Juniors tournament to keep him active.
