Seattle Kraken place defenseman on waivers to terminate his contract
Today the Seattle Kraken made the announcement that they have placed defenceman Michal Kempny on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination.
Kempny already cleared regular waivers Monday. If he clears unconditional waivers, then Kempny and the Kraken can decide to terminate his contract and part ways. That would allow him to play in Europe if he so chooses.
Kempny has a goal in two games played this season, with the Coachella Valley Firebirds in the AHL. The 32 year old, won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Washington Capitals during the 2017-2018 season.
Kempny has played 247 games in the NHL, suiting up for the Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals.
