Senators Looking At New GM

The Ottawa Senators franchise is hoping to have new ownership when the 2023-2024 season begins. The Senators team was put up for sale in November 2022, after long-time owner Eugene Melnyk passed away in March 2022.

With general manager Pierre Dorion in the midst of a six-year playoff drought and new ownership about to arrive in Ottawa, there are no guarantees yet that Dorion will be back next season.

Reports are confirmed that Steve Staios will be joining the organization in likely a general manager role.

With Staios joining Ottawa what will happen to Dorion? The 50 year old Dorion has three years left on his contract with a club option for the third year. A frugal franchise like the Senators, it would be hard to fathom Ottawa paying Dorion not to work.

While Dorion hasn't been able to bring playoff success to Ottawa yet but he has managed to build an exciting young core in Brady Tkachuk, Tim Stutzle, Josh Norris, Drake Batherson Jake Sanderson, Jakob Chychrun, and Thomas Chabot.
