The Philadelphia Flyers are in a big retooling phase to be competitive as of next season. They do however have some big contracts that they want to get rid of to make room to make other moves possible. The latest rumors to circulate around the league surround James van Riemsdyk.
According to Hockey Night in Canada's Elliotte Friedman, the Philadelphia Flyers are being asked for a very costly asset in return.
Friedman on 32TP says to move James van Riemsdyk the Flyers were being asked for a 2023 1st RD pick. They didn't want to do it.

Last season JVR put up 24 goals and 14 assists in 82 games. Not a personal best, but a lot of teams would be interested in adding a depth forward who can contribute 20+ goals in a season.
van Riemsdyk is in the final year of a 5 year contract, which paid him $7,000,000 per season. Given that there is only a year remaining on the deal it makes sense for the Flyers to not want to move a considerable asset in an attempt to move his deal.
