The Washington Capitals were visiting the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday Afternoon. A Pens fan was wearing an original jersey that caught the eye of the camera. It has Wilson's familiar # 43 on the back with an interesting nameplate, that read "TRASH". The Pens fan goes by Joe Colosimo on twitter.
Penguins fans were happy at the end of the 1st. They were leading 3-2. Alex Ovechkin got his 44th of the season to tie the game in the second period. But unfortunately for Pens fans, "Trash" Tom Wilson went on to score the game winner, his 22nd of the season matching his career high. "Trash" also provided the primary assist on the empty net goal scored by Martin Fehervary. The final score was 6-3 win for the Capitals.
When it comes to personal accolades, Wilson is having the best season of his career. He has 49 points in 67 games this season a career high. Was a replacement to the All Star game for the first time in his career. His GWG goal last night was his fifth of the year tying him for first on the team in that category with Ovechkin.
