Sidney Crosby is still one of the best players in the NHL, but one of the things that often gets overlooked is the edge that Crosby has in his game. When Crosby gets upset he can cross the line with the best of them, but he often doesn't face the same consequences for those actions. Last night was a chippy game between the Penguins and Coyotes, and that chippy play brought out Crosby's edge.

During the 3rd period on what seemed like a harmless play Crosby delivered a two hand slash to the back of Troy Stecher's leg. After the slash Stecher dropped to the ice like he'd had his leg chopped off.

On the play Crosby received 2 minutes for slashing, while Stecher wasn't penalized for his clear embellishment. Despite the 'vicious' slash, Stecher was right back onto the ice for his next shift. There is no doubt that this slash would have hurt, but the reaction was a clear attempt to try and draw a penalty. The NHL must continue to try and discourage players from this sort of embellishment as it takes away from the game.
