The University of Michigan hockey team has been dealing with a string of serious illnesses for the past 3 weeks. At no point over that stretch has the entire team been healthy. Unfortunately for Junior, Steven Holtz, that illness had forced him to be hospitalized earlier this week.

Holtz was eventually transferred to the intensive care unit and has since been placed on a ventilator to assist with his breathing. Steven's mother Sylvia took to her social media account to ask for thoughts and prayers for her son.

In need of a really big prayer chain for my son Steven Holtz without too much detail he is in ICU at UofM on a ventilator. He was admitted last night with a virus and complications. Please keep him in your prayers. Our family will be forever grateful. There is nothing more powerful than prayer.

While many have guessed what illness might be impacting the team, at this time nothing has been confirmed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Holtz Family, his teammates and all of those impacted by his illness.
