There's an unwritten rule in the National Hockey League and that is that you don't try and embarrass another team. Once you have a 4 goal lead teams usually just run out the clock knowing it was a bad night for the other team.
The Washington Capitals must have not received that memo because on November 1st, 2013 in a game versus the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center the Capitals would run up the score sheet.
Six minutes into the 3rd period all hell broke loose. As that unwritten rule was broken by the Capitals. Then Flyers forward, Wayne Simmonds would take to the ice laying a monster check on a Capitals player.
Tom Wilson would jump in and it was on. Wilson then caused an all out line brawl that included goaltenders Brayden Holtby and Ray Emery. What did we learn boys and girls? Don't run the score up unless you want to throw hands.
