Washington Capitals' forward Tom Wilson is known as one of the most formidable forces in the league and known on the ice as one of the most irritating, agitating and aggressive people in the NHL, with a knack for putting the puck in the net. Have you ever wondered what he does while off the ice (besides resting his hands?
Showing off his softer side away from the rink, Wilson spent his most recent off day helping rescue animals at a local shelter along with his fiance and some teammates, According to RMNB:
Wilson's volunteer responsibilities consisted of veterinary exams, taking intake photos and helping fit puppies and kittens with everything they may need to be fostered. For a man that plays one of the most physically demanding games in the NHL, it's nice to see him as a different person off the ice.
Opinion: It's nice to see this kind of thing around the sport of hockey. It shows that a person's persona away from the rink can be very different than how they act on the ice. I think sometimes, we as fans have a hard time separating who people are as players and who they are when they don't have a job to do.
