Winnipeg Jets to buyout disgruntled former captain
The NHL buyout window hasn't been filled with nearly as many surprises as people had expected. However that is expected to change today.
The Winnipeg Jets have been openly shopping Blake Wheeler for the last year. However with his salary of $8,250,000 it's been impossible to find a taker. After being stripped of his captaincy last summer Wheeler was disappointed and interested in fresh start.
Now he'll finally get that start.
The Winnipeg Jets are processing Blake Wheelers buyout. He will be on waivers today. There will be a number of teams with interest in signing the veteran as a free agent, including the Dallas Stars.
Due to his no movement clause Wheeler required replaced on waivers. He will be free to sign with every team he wants once the buyout is complete.
