The Calgary Flames have been the subject of rumours since the start of the season, whether that be Tanev, making offensive upgrades or the revelations of players not wanting to play there, but there's been another rumour that picking up steam again.
According to Sportsnet's, Eric Francis, the Flames have given defender
Noah Hanifin an ultimatum on when he needs to answer if he'll sign a long term extension with the team; take a look.
«It's a huge decision obviously it's going to be coming to a head sooner rather than later.» - Noah Hanifin on whether he'll sign an 8-year extension with the Flames or test free agency and be subjected to an imminent trade.
My one-on-one with him ⤵️
This sounds very non-committal from Hanifin, if I was part of Calgary's organization and I heard that I would start planning on how the team would move forward without him. Possibly look at a trade.
Hanifin, 27, has skated in 51 games for the Flames this season, tallying 28 points in that time, scoring 9 goals and 19 assists. He could probably fetch a decent haul on the rental market.
Whether he'll get trade remains to be seen, but the Flames cannot afford to let him walk for free in the summer.
