An insider has revealed that a Calgary Flames prospect, who is under NHL contract has signed a deal with CSKA overseas, violating the international transfer ban.

Nikita Okhotyuk, a Calgary Flames prospect has violated the international transfer ban after signing a 2-year contract with CSKA while being under contract with the Flames.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the two year contract breaks breaches the international transfer ban by having a valid NHL contract and signing a KHL deal without an official loan from his NHL club; similar to Philadelphia Flyers prospect - Ivan Fedetov, take a look.

Nikita Okhotyuk has signed a 2 year deal with CSKA. Clearly no concern with the intentional ban that remains in effect.

The transfer ban originally came into effect last year in early August and will remain in effect until at least August of 2026, which means sanctions are likely coming from the IIHF. The transfer ban is as follows

In violation of the IIHF International Transfer Regulations. to allow a player to play without an approved international transfer) and, in violation of his NHL Standard Player Contract (SPC)

We'll see what sanctions and punishments the IIHF hands out this time, but the punishment should be similar to Fedetov
