Despite the Hall of Fame career Sidney Crosby has had, he continues to prove he's very grounded, and loves to interact with fans. Crosby signed a brand new two-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins worth $8.7 million per season. Instead of celebrating, he was out knocking on the doors of Pittsburgh Penguins fans.
Sidney Crosby took the time to make a home delivery for some season tickets holders, showing up with their order in hand.
Crosby's new two-year deal doesn't kick in until after the 2024-25 season. He would have been a free agent if a new deal hadn't been reached by July 1, 2025. But, it's difficult to imagine the three-time Stanley Cup winner wearing any other team's jersey. The $8.7 million dollar AAV is the same as the last contract he signed with the Penguins, which is a nod to his birth year (1987) and his sweater number.
Sidney Crosby will be 40 when his new contract expires at the end of the 2026-27 season. He has given no indication of whether he will retire at that time. That said, Crosby shows little sign of slowing down, scoring 42 goals and 94 points in 2023-24 to continue with his consistency. The big question is whether the Pittsburgh Penguins under GM Kyle Dubas can get back to the Stanley Cup playoffs after missing out the past two years. Besides signing their captain to a bew contract, the Penguins snagged highly touted prospect Rutger McGroarty in a trade with the Winnipeg Jets.
