The hockey world is mourning another tragic loss today as a fifteen-year-old boy was killed by a drunk driver over Easter Weekend.

Much of Canada and the rest of North America for that matter was in a celebratory mood this past weekend as Easter Sunday came around.
But unfortunately for one Ontario family the weekend changed their lives forever as we saw another tragic event rock the local hockey community in Sault St. Marie.
Connor Dunn, a 15-year-old member of the U16 AA Soo Jr. Greyhounds, was struck by a drunk driver while riding an e-bike early in the morning Easter Day.
According to Sault St. Marie police, the teenager was struck by a pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Gregory Parise.
Parise was arrested on the scene and now faces several charges including driving under the influence and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.
"Sault Police say an 18-year-old was driving the pickup truck northbound on Goulais Avenue. When the driver attempted to turn left onto Third Line West, the truck hit the e-bike, which was travelling south on Goulais.

The 18-year-old driver was arrested and has been remanded into custody, with the next court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.

The alleged driver, 18-year-old Gregory Parise, faces a long list of charges, including impaired driving causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death."

Dunn won a championship with the Soo Jr. Greyhounds just last month in what would end up being the last game he would ever play.
It is one thing when a member of the hockey community passes away naturally such as former linesman Will Norris, who passed at age 89 last week, but to lose someone at such a young age is beyond tragic.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Dunn's family and friends in this difficult time. Rest in peace Connor.
