Ralph Plane may have not been a star at the NHL level, but in Ontario he was a big time name, and now the hockey world is mourning his passing.

The Ontario Hockey Association of the 1960's brought in some of the biggest names in hockey, and while many of them didn't go on to the NHL level, they are revered in their own way in Ontario.
One of the biggest names of the 60's was Ralph Plane, who plied his craft for the Belleville Mohawks, Belleville Quintes, Belleville Eagles and the Napanee Comets between 1967 and 1975.
While he didn't score that much, Plane once spent 117 minutes in the penalty box in a 38 game campaign for the Mohawks, and he was one of the most recognizable players from the era, helping to define a generation of hockey for fans in the Ontario region in the late 60's and early 70's.
Unfortunately, at the age of 85, the hockey world is in mourning after Plane's passing, as the world has lost an incredible and recognizable player, but an even better person away from the ask.
Now, the family have made a special request: In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Columba Church or Hospice Quinte would be appreciated.
We take this time to send our condolences to the family, friends, former teammates and coaches and anyone that was lucky enough to be impacted by Plane on or off the ice, and we hope that in this time you've held tight to the special memories that he brought so many throughout his life.
Rest in Peace Ralph Plane.
