Joel Quenneville has been out of the NHL since 2021, but a month after being reinstated, he could make a comeback behind the bench sooner rather than later.
It's been a long road for Joel Quenneville, but he's finally able to return to coaching in the NHL should he get a job and with all of the head coaching gigs spoken for at the moment, he seems to be just biding his time before the opportunity comes along. The question is, how soon will that chance come? It could happen relatively quickly.
According to The Hockey News's Matt Carlson, there are four potential teams that could see a coaching change relatively early in the 2024-25 NHL season.
Carlson muses that if the Detroit Red Wings, Utah HC, Pittsburgh Penguins or the Calgary Flames get off to a rough start early in the season, Quenneville could be on deck to take any one of those jobs.

Given the fact that all of the above mentioned teams have put their bench bosses on the hot seat, but have yet to make the changes their teams may need.
With Quenneville undoubtedly chomping at the bit for another crack at coaching in the National Hockey League, it's no surprise he'll get a shot sooner rather than later should any of the 4 teams falter at the start of the season.
