Many of the game's top stars arrived in Las Vegas last week for the NHL Players Media Tour. The NHL Players Media Tour gives members of the media an opportunity to interview and film those stars for segments and images that'll be used in broadcasts and social media outlets throughout the 2024-25 season.
During a segment with some of those players, including Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, Bleacher Report surprised them with photos from when they were younger, asking them to autograph the photo.
This is a trend from popular social media outlet TikTok and has been making the rounds through teams around the National Hockey League, including the Montreal Canadiens and other professional sports leagues.
The first player asked by Bleacher Report was the aforementioned Sidney Crosby, who was shown a photo of him on the cover of The Hockey News from February 2008. Crosby laughed, pointing out his hair and shirt on the cover and jokingly thanking Bleacher Report for remanding him of this photo shoot.
Other players involved in this segment were Jack Eichel of the Vegas Golden Knights, who was shown an image of him dressed up as what is believed to be a unicorn for Halloween one year.
Leon Draisaitl, Nathan MacKinnon, Filip Forsberg and Quinton Byfield, the latter of whom was asked to sign a picture of him dressed up as the Frozone from The Incredibles for Halloween last year.
It's nice to see the players enjoy themselves off the ice and be able to show a side in these segments that we don't get to see very often. Expect to see more of these videos from the NHL Players Media Tour on social media throughout the 2024-25 season.
