The NHL Department of Player Safety announced official consequences to the St. Louis Blues forward after a controversial hit in last night's game against the Predators.

The St. Louis Blues have been firing on all cylinders recently, winning eight of their last ten games.
In fact, the team has the best record in the whole NHL since the return from the 4 Nations Face-Off break, with 12 wins, 2 regulation-time losses, and two overtime losses.
Last night, the team earned its sixth straight win, increasing their lead over the Calgary Flames in the race for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.
What they accomplished in the past weeks is impressive, and hockey teams who want to be as successful as they are must have a "wolfpack" mentality, meaning stepping up for teammates when they need help.
That's exactly what the players showed in last night's win.
Blues' forward Zach Bolduc may have taken things too far when he went after the Nashville Predators' player Nick Blankenburg for a dirty hit on Robert Thomas.
He received a five-minute penalty, as well as a game misconduct on the play.
If you missed it, here's how it went down:
Thomas had a lot of great words about his teammate after he stepped up for him:
"Much appreciated. He's a guy that's really exploded, really feeling comfortable. He's playing amazing hockey. He's playing the right way. It was nice for him to stick up for me, and I definitely owe him."

In breaking news, the NHL Player Safety released a verdict on the incident: Bolduc will need to pay a $2,248.26 fine for cross-checking:
With the next CBA negotiations set to go down soon, don't be surprised if the price to pay in fines for dangerous gestures increases, as the League and the Player Association both have the same goal: focusing on player safety.
Meanwhile, the Blues will face the Montreal Canadiens tomorrow night, two teams currently holding on to their conference's second wild card spot.
