Whether Treliving can coax one or both from the Blues remains to be seen and obviously both would fit a need that the Maple Leafs are lacking in terms of tougher players to insert into their lineup, however something that should be considered is at what cost, and is especially dependant on whether management believes they can help them over the hump to make it further than the second round of the playoffs.
The man at the top has increased pressure on him to make a deal as the majority of Maple Leafs faithful in 2024 were not alive to see the team win the Stanley Cup in 1967, however with a fanbase that is split between diehard and fairweather fans, it's safe to say their won't be a deal made just for the sake of making a deal.
As we approach the 3pm deadline Friday one thing remains apparent. This version of the Maple Leafs is slowly looking quite a bit different than the Dubas era and one really has to be thankful as previous management fell short after making fans believe that they could make a push to win hockeys holy grail.
