According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, a total of three players have been placed on waivers for the purpose of being assigned to their respective American Hockey League teams. Those three players are Joel Hanley of the Dallas Stars, Aaron Dell of the Los Angeles and Matthew Phillips of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Hanley, a native of Keswick, Ontario has appeared in 32 games for the Dallas Stars this season, putting up three assists, 23 penalty minutes and is a plus-three.
Dell, who was just signed to a two-way contract by the Los Angeles Kings today, has appeared in five games for the AHL's Ontario Reign this season where he has a record of 2-3-0 with a 2.63 goals against average, a .906 save percentage and one shutout.
Phillips, 25, was claimed off waivers by Pittsburgh from the Washington Capitals back on February 16th. In three games with the Penguins, he failed to record any points. Meanwhile, he put up five points (one goal, four assists) in 27 games with the Washington Capitals.
If any of the players on waivers today clear at 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday, they'll be assigned to their respective American Hockey League affiliates.
