Sam Bennett throws a dangerous hit on Jordan Martinook and is shocked when it's actually called
The Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers met in game off of the Eastern Conference Final last night and the two teams wasted no time getting physical.
However in the third period Panthers Forward Sam Bennett gets a little careless and makes a dangerous hit on Canes forward Jordan Martinook; take a look.
A bad Sam Bennett penalty put Carolina on the power play:
Bennett was assessed a 2 minute minor for boarding on the play. On the ensuing powerplay Stefan Noesen would score to tie things up at 2.
If you're Sam Bennett there not only is that a dangerous play, but it's one you just can't make, especially with your team up a goal in the 3rd period. I'm glad at this stage in the playoffs, the officials have started to make these calls. It's better late than never.
If the officials have made the decision to call this series tighter than they did the second round, the Panthers will have to adjust their style. Luckily for Bennett, he and the Panthers snuck out of Raleigh with a 3-2, 4 overtime victory.
