Before the NHL season began most fans had already written off the Vancouver Canucks. After a disappointing finish last season, it seemed as if the Canucks were bound to be a Wild Card Team at best. Instead, the Canucks currently sit tied for first place in the NHL.
With that success comes the Canucks looking to make a big splash. While the Canucks wait for Elias Pettersson to make a decision on whether or not he'd like to re-sign, they are now looking at ways to improve. Earlier tonight Elliotte Friedman dropped the news that the Canucks were close to acquiring Elias Lindholm from the Vancouver Canucks.
There is word tonight talks between Vancouver and Calgary are intensifying around Elias Lindholm. We will see where it goes.
Trade call is happening or about to go down. Lindholm is going to the Canucks. Multi assets involved in the trade including Kuzmenko back to the Flames.
In 49 games this season Lindholm currently has 9 goals and 23 assists for 32 points. Lindholm is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. According to Pierre LeBrun the deal is not contingent on an extension and this is purely a rental deal at this time.
There's no extension in the works for Elias Lindholm as part of this Vancouver trade being worked on. He would be going as a rental at least at the outset.
