William Nylander connected to the St. Louis Blues in a blockbuster trade rumor
The summer of William Nylander trade rumors continues. After becoming eligible for a contract extension rumors began to swirl that William Nylander and his agent Lewis Gross were in search of an eight-year contract valued at $10 million per season. This reported asking price was too rich for the Toronto Maple Leafs' blood and rumors began to immediately swirl.
Rumors connected Nylander to the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Islanders, Arizona Coyotes and now the St. Louis Blues. The latest rumor is brought to us by NHL Trade Rumor.com and would see multiple assets return to Toronto in a potential deal.
To St Louis Blues
RW William Nylander ( $6.96 million a year, free agent next summer)
To Toronto Maple Leafs
RD Colton Parayko ( $6.50 million a year, under contract for seven more years)
LW Jake Neighbours ( $835k with two more seasons until restricted free agency )
1st Round Pick in 2024 This reported deal would see the Maple Leafs acquire 3 high end assets and greatly improve their defense. The Leafs would also add a 21-year-old high end prospect in Neighbours and a first round pick they could use to draft or deal at the deadline.
Out of all the reported deals for Nylander this appears to be one of the best offers the Leafs could have received. Will the two teams be able to push this over the finish line or is this just another rumor that won't go anywhere?
