The Colorado Avalanche and Montreal Canadiens are in the midst of a trade that would see a goaltender going to the Avs to shore up their game between the pipes.

Former NHLer and Spittin' Chiclets host Matt Murley says he's hearing Montreal's Jake Allen has been traded to Colorado. The return is not yet known.

"Hearing Jake Allen to the #GoAvsGo

Colorado grabs the veteran netminder they need to secure their goaltending for another Cup run!! #RumorBoys @spittinchiclets."

Montreal shopping a goaltender isn't really a secret. When Sam Montembeault was signed to a new three-year deal earlier this year, he became the new number one goalie in Montreal, and both Allen and Cayden Primeau were dangled as trade bait.

While Allen has a ton of experience, it has not been a great season for him so far. Allen is currently sporting a 5-10-3 record, with a .895 save percentage and a 3.63 goals against average.

Update

Darren Dreger of TSN claims there is no deal at this time.

Chris Johntson confirms what Dreger has reported.
