The long-awaited exit of Tyler Myers from the Vancouver Canucks has hit the "one-yard line" as head coach Adam Foote continues to navigate a roster in total flux.

The veteran blueliner was a healthy scratch for "roster management" on Wednesday, signaling that a deal is imminent.
Detroit appears to be the primary destination. The Red Wings are desperate to snap their playoff drought and view Myers as a stabilizing veteran for their top-four rotation.
Dreger revealed today that Detroit has been selected as Myers' preferred destination.
With a manageable $3 million cap hit, the 6'8" defender offers size that few teams can match at this stage of the season.
However, the Detroit Red Wings aren't the only ones calling Patrik Allvin. The Dallas Stars have been aggressive in their pursuit of right-side help to bolster a deep playoff run.
Dallas has been checking in consistently, looking to pair Myers with a mobile skater like Thomas Harley.
The leverage sits entirely with the player. Because he holds a full no-movement clause, he effectively chooses his next locker room.
He has been held to just 8 points in 57 games this season, but his value lies in his reach and penalty-killing experience.
His -25 rating is more a reflection of the Canucks' defensive structure than his individual play under Tocchet.

A New Chapter Awaits

Vancouver is clearly committed to a total rebuild after already moving core pieces earlier this winter.
Moving Myers clears the way for younger assets to get looks in "the Show" during the final stretch.
Detroit has the draft capital to make this work without much friction. If the Red Wings pull the trigger, expect a mid-round pick to head back to the West Coast.
The Stars remain the wildcard, but they may need to move salary elsewhere to fit the big man under the ceiling.
Either way, his seven-season tenure in British Columbia is over. The only question left is which jersey he pulls on Friday night.
