11-year NHL veteran reportedly returning to Europe after 2023-24 season
An Anaheim Ducks forward is reportedly planning on playing one more season in the National Hockey League before returning back home to Europe to finish out his professional career.
According to Swedish reporter Rasmus Kagstrom, Anaheim Ducks forward Jakub Silfverberg will honour the final year of his contract in North America before going back to Sweden for the 2024-25 season.
Silfverberg, 33, has spent ten of his 11 seasons in the National Hockey League thus far with the Anaheim Ducks and has been a reliable middle-six forward for the organization. The Ducks acquired Silfverberg back in July 2013 from the Ottawa Senators in the Bobby Ryan trade.
In 81 games this season, the Galve native had 26 points (ten goals, 16 assists), 32 penalty minutes and was a minus-20.
It's unclear at this time who Silfverberg will play with if he returns to Sweden in 2024-25, but if his former team and hometown club Brynas IF are able to gain promotion to the Swedish Hockey League, it's likely they'd become the favourite.
