Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Troy Stecher has been a revelation for the team so far this season, and according to Elliotte Friedman, there is much to consider.

Troy Stecher is one of the best defensemen on the Toronto Maple Leafs right now, which is incredibly impressive when you consider where he was when he started the season.
The defenseman was struggling to get playing time on the Edmonton Oilers, and he was eventually placed on waivers, where the Leafs picked him up.
Since that time, the d-man has become a favorite of Craig Berube, who plays him whenever he gets the chance to. It's been amusing to watch, and the fans have loved every second of it.
Having said that, there are some difficult decisions that need to be made involving Stecher, and Elliotte Friedman has laid them out.

Troy Stecher and the Maple Leafs

In a recent report, Friedman said that when it comes to taking care of some business, Stecher is the guy that the Maple Leafs are going to need to look at.
The guy who makes the most sense to take care of your business with is Troy Stecher, it won't cost you a lot
Quite frankly, this is a very ominous warning, as it is ambiguous. Is Friedman saying the Maple Leafs are going to have to trade Stecher? Or is he saying they should sign him?
It's an interesting question, and one that general manager Brad Treliving is going to have to answer in short order. At the end of the day, it is not an easy choice.
The Leafs are likely to be sellers, but with Stecher averaging 20 minutes per game, it's hard to imagine the team getting rid of him, regardless of the circumstances.
Ultimately, this is a situation that we will be keeping our eyes on as the Olympic Break begins in just a couple of days.
