According to the police report, the suspect at the scene on July 9th threatened to "chop up" an officer, and also told them he would cut out the kidneys of the officer's family members.
According to 12News, Galchenyuk's father was at the scene of the accident with his son and told police he had never witnessed his son act so aggressively toward anyone. The police report states Galchenyuk displayed "signs of impairment." An officer also accused Galchenyuk of directing a racial slur at an African-American officer at the scene of his arrest.
Galchenyuk, a former 3rd overall NHL draft pick, signed a contract with the Arizona Coyotes for next season on July 1st. On July 12th, the Coyotes announced they were terminating his deal, but said the team would have no further comments. Since then, it was learned that Galchenyuk was arrested on July 9th and charged with property hit and run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, and threatening or intimidating.
