Despite the fact the Boston Bruins are having another great regular season, it seems like one of its players has ruffled enough feathers to find himself in the doghouse. In fact, one analyst believes he'll no longer be there come the March 8 trade deadline.
Derek Forbort missed a Bruins' team meeting Monday in advance of a game against the Seattle Kraken. Given the way he's been playing this season, Boston coach Jim Montgomery decided to make the 31-year-old a healthy scratch again on Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights. Jimmy Murphy believes Forbort's time in Boston in up.
"Given his recent play and now this, I wouldn't be surprised to see Forbort on a new team by the March 8, 3 p.m. ET NHL Trade Deadline."
Forbort has just four assists in 34 games this season, and this take from CBS Sports pretty much sums up his play so far.
"Forbort is in coach Jim Montgomery's dog house after missing a team meeting prior to Monday's game versus Seattle. The 31-year-old blueliner has managed just four helpers through 34 contests this season, so there's no reason for fantasy managers to track whether or not he's in Boston's lineup on a nightly basis."
Forbort has dealt with injuries over the past few years causing him to miss a number of games. He becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season after a cap hit of $3 million in each of the last three years.
