It always felt inevitable that Mitch Marner would leave the Toronto Maple Leafs for the Las Vegas Golden Knights, although we now know the shady circumstances.
Mitch Marner left the Toronto Maple Leafs back in July of last year, and it was something that the fans had been preparing for months.
Both sides needed a change of scenery. However, Marner continued to give the Leafs faithful some hope that he would return, which always felt like a bad idea.
Based on recent reports, it has felt as though Marner always had one foot out the door. According to Steve Simmons, his parents had one foot out the door, as well.

In a new report from the controversial journalist, it was reported that Marner's parents were shopping for homes in Las Vegas last year.
They did this while the Leafs were on a road trip out West. Weeks and months before Marner was traded, his folks were already planning the move.
This is a very blatant move, and it shows that the forward was toying with the emotions of fans for a very long time.
On social media, Leafs fans gave their reactions to this news, and as you can imagine, the responses were less than amused.
Some feel completely betrayed by Mitch Marner in this scenario, and it is very easy to see why. At the end of the day, the superstar wanted to leave, and could barely hide it.
The betrayal is going to sting for a very long time, but eventually, the Leafs fandom is going to have to get over it.
Players come and go all the time. You never know, it could be Auston Matthews in a few years.
