Carolina Hurricanes fans will be happy to hear that their captain Jordan Staal and the team have agreed on a contract extension.

The deal is going to be four years with a cap hit in the $2.9 million dollars a season.

The 34 year old is widely known for his defensive skills, being a strong penalty killer, and valuable leadership abilities. Staal has been a steady 30-40 point producer for most of his career. In 81 games last season he scored 17 goals and 34 points.

Drafted second overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2006, Staal was traded to the Hurricanes in 2012 in exchange for Brandon Sutter, Brian Dumoulin and a first-round pick

Staal was named the Hurricanes captain in 2019.

If you ask me, the dollar value isn't the issue on the contract, but rather it's the length I worry about.
