Blackhawks prospect suckerpunched by former Nashville first-rounder
Things got pretty heated during the first period of Saturday's American Hockey League game between the Rockford IceHogs and Milwaukee Admirals.
Just over halfway through the opening frame, Chicago Blackhawks prospect Colton Dach laid a questionable hit on former Nashville Predators first-round pick Zachary L'Heureux. After L'Heureux and Dach got up, the Admirals forward skated towards his opponent, who had his back turned, and suckerpunched him in the face, causing Dach to fall to the ice.
L'Heureux is no stranger to finding himself in the middle of controversy as he was suspended a total of nine times while in the QMJHL, including one that lasted ten games in early 2023 for jabbing a fan with his stick.
"Hoping that Colton Dach (#28) is ok. What a dirty play by Zachary L'Heureux. Not anything new from L'Heureux either as he was suspended nine times in the QMJHL (including one 10 game suspension). #Blackhawks #Preds #IceHogs"
There's no doubt that the American Hockey League will be reviewing the incident and there's a pretty good chance that Zachary L'Heureux will be facing some sort of discipline after he was handed a match penalty on the play.
