NHL Department of Player Safety Makes a Decision on Jason Dickinson after Brutal Hit on Filip Chytil
The Department of Player Safety has made their decision in regards to Jason Dickinson's fate after his questionable play last night.
The Vancouver Canucks took down the Chicago Blackhawks in what turned into a 6-2 blowout.
Unfortunately, the game devolved into a mess as tensions grew over the growing difference in the score.
Blackhawks star center Conor Bedard even got a game misconduct penalty for abuse of officials, the second such penalty he's taken in the last two games.
Unfortunately, Chytil is now out with a concussion according to head coach Rick Tocchet. The Canucks face the Utah HC at 8PM EST.
He has two goals and six points in 15 games since the trade after putting up 11 goals and 20 points in 41 games with New york.
Despite all of this, it appears as though the NHL's Department of Player Safety will not be handing out any supplementary discipline to Dickinson for the play.
This information comes curtesy of Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal.
It should also be noted that Dickinson never even received a minor penalty for the hit.
This is just another incident that proves the DoPS cannot uphold a consistent standard throughout the season, let alone season-to-season.
Hopefully this will change at some point, but it is hard to imagine that happening as long as Gary Bettman remains in change and George Parros remains head of the DoPS.
