There was plenty happening in their matchup against the Red Wings, but the most notable moment of all came when Detroit's Michael Rasmussen drove the net, only to end up taking down starter Ilya Samsonov in the process.
Not too pleased with his actions, Samsonov took a major swipe at the Red Wings forward, with chaos erupting around the net as a result, as no other Golden Knight was looking to stand up for the goaltender before he did it himself.
Unsurprisingly, when Samsonov hit him with his blocker, the home crowd in Detroit were not happy at all as the boos reigned down, but in the end, it was the Red Wings that got the last laugh, netting three goals on 27 shots to take down
the Pacific Division leading Golden Knights.
This was probably a bit of an overreaction from Samsonov, but given that his teammates have failed to stand up for him several times as opposing teams have run into him on many different occasions, he clearly wanted to take his protection into his own hands.
The officials shut down things before they could get too out of hand in this situation, but unless Vegas teammates start standing up for their goaltender, this may continue to happen, and with the Stanley Cup Playoffs right around the corner, that's the last thing the team should want to happen.
