Corey Perry speaks for the first time as an Oiler
Corey Perry speaks on the last few months of his life off the ice.
Corey Perry has signed with the Edmonton Oilers for a league-minimum deal.
The AAV of the deal is $775K and it will provide the team with great depth. Perry will be joining the team's bottom-six which has not been as strong as the 2022-2023 team.
During the press conference, Perry faced multiple questions regarding his situation with the Blackhawks.
He stated that he had seen professional counselors off the ice and worked hard to better himself over the past two months.
«It's been a long time to get back to this spot, to be back on that ice with players in the NHL,» Perry said. «I have to thank my family, my friends, all the support I have gotten, the support from my counsellors, and just try to better myself each and every day It's been a world of difference the help I've gotten.»
His trouble with alcohol to his contract termination from the team and being placed on unconditional waivers.
Perry acknowledged his actions in Chicago and thanked his support system, which included his counselors, friends, and family.
Perry is excited to be joining the playoff-bound Oilers and putting the past behind him.
With 1,273 games of experience, he brings a wealth of experience and a history of being a playoff performer. He has scored 421 goals and 471 assists for a total of 892 points.
