Connor McDavid Exits Practice Suddenly Following Unexpected Talk with Coaching Staff

The Edmonton Oilers have fought their way back to their second straight Stanley Cup Finals, and for the second year in a row, they'll aim to go through the Florida Panthers to claim their first Cup since 1990.

That's not going to be an easy task however, as the Panthers are one of the best teams in modern NHL history, and now, a new report will have Oilers fans holding their breath.

According to TSN Ryan Rishaug, at practice on Sunday, Oilers captain Connor McDavid had a brief chat with the training staff before leaving the ice, with everyone else on the team remaining out there to practice.

While there's little chance that it's a serious injury, this definitely isn't the report that the Oilers were wanting to hear on their star captain just days ahead of what could be a historic series for arguably the NHL's best player.

Last season, the Oilers star won the Conn Smythe Trophy for the Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP even without his team hoisting the Stanley Cup, and after a dominant run to the Finals this season, it's safe to say that there's few players more motivated and excited about this series than No. 97.

We'll bring updates on McDavid's status as the Stanley Cup Finals Game 1 on Wednesday draws near, and while there's little cause for concern with the star centre at this point in time, if that changes it will be one of the biggest stories in recent NHL memory.
