The Stars started the game on the right foot, scoring four unanswered goals. The Oilers tried to come back in the game but fell one goal short in the third period.
Unfortunately for the Oilers, they didn't only lose the game but their goalie as well, as Stuart Skinner left in the third period with an injury.
Rantanen injures Skinner in dangerous collision
Mikko Rantanen may have only scored an assist in the game, but he landed another massive hit on the Oilers when he injured Stuart Skinner at the beginning of the third period.
Rantanen skated by him and accidentally struck him in the head, forcing Skinner to leave the game.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch made the following comment after the game:
"Obviously, we're concerned about him and how he's doing. We never want to lose somebody from our lineup, but that's my secondary thought - the first one is how he's doing and that he's alright. We've got the best care. He'll be looked at, and we'll find out exactly tomorrow what the situation is."
Corey Perry, who was on the ice when it happened, didn't see what happened, or he would've stood up to Rantanen.
"I was pissed at myself. I didn't see what happened. I was on the ice when Rantanen hit Skinner, and that's on me. I should never let that happen. I didn't see what happened. I saw Stu down and everybody just standing there, and I didn't see it until afterwards. I was pretty pissed at myself that I didn't see it."
In the end, it was confirmed that Skinner will miss at least a game with an "undisclosed injury":
