The New York Islanders need a major infusion of talent leading them forward, and now, they've landed one of the top names available in Gleb Veremyev.

The New York Islanders moved Brock Nelson at the trade deadline this season, and while they have some intriguing prospects coming through the organization, the immediate future isn't too promising for the team.
Now however, they've landed one of the top college free agents available in Colorado College's Gleb Veremyev, a 21-year old New Jersey native that has three years experience at the NCHC level under his belt.
His career best season came in 2023/24, with Veremyev posting a very solid 52 points in 88 games played across the last three seasons, with the 6-foot-4 forward showing off the skills that make him a genuine prospect at the professional level along with his impressive size.
In fact, some analysts have him ranked among the top three UDFA's in this years class, with the former USHL forward known for his physical play that makes him a genuine threat all over the ice, with a combined 253 penalty minutes in 99 games played over his final two USHL seasons.
Given all of these attributes, it's no surprise that he projects to be a fourth-liner at the NHL level, but with solid skating, great size and physical play, he's exactly what a team needs at the top level in 2025.
While this isn't going to be a move that changes the fortune of the entire Islanders organization, it's a solid pickup at what is likely a very cheap price, and if the team can continue finding good players like this in the coming years, this is a franchise that has the chance to put something special together.
