Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Laurent Brossoit has officially cleared waivers; some may feel as though the Toronto Maple Leafs missed out on a great opportunity.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are dealing with a tough goaltending situation right now, thanks to Anthony Stolarz. While Joseph Woll is officially back today, Stolarz has been out for over a month, with no return in sight.
Woll is injury-prone, and with Dennis Hildeby as the backup, the Maple Leafs do not have very much security when it comes to the goaltending position.
This puts them in an extremely vulnerable position, and when Laurent Broissoit hit waivers on Monday, there was this feeling that the Leafs could make a move.
Brossoit has real NHL experience, and despite his injury issues over the past couple of seasons, he could be seen as the right alternative to Hildeby.

Laurent Brossoit goes back to the Rockford IceHogs

Earlier today, it was revealed that Brossoit cleared waivers. This means the Chicago Blackhawks get to keep the netminder with the organization.
He will now go down to the Rockford IceHogs, where he will get to play a few more games and ultimately prove himself as someone who can still play good hockey.
For the Maple Leafs, it is clear that they believe in Hildeby, and think that this is the correct solution to their issue with Stolarz.
Overall, the Stolarz situation is one that will take a while to resolve itself, and there is no telling whether or not the Leafs will ever give the fans clarity on what's happening.
All we know right now is that the goaltender does not have a concussion, but that is not enough to keep fans satisfied with the team's lack of communication.
Either way, we wish Brossoit well this season, as he deserves to have a relatively stable season, devoid of injuries and setbacks.
