The Toronto Maple Leafs have dealt with numerous goaltending injuries this season, involving their tandem duo of Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll.

If one thing is for certain, it is that Toronto Maple Leafs goaltenders Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz are extremely injury-prone.
This has been an issue for Stolarz and Woll throughout their careers, and it is starting to become a real issue for the Maple Leafs, who are without both right now.
Woll should be coming back soon, but Stolarz is in limbo and no one knows for sure what's happening. Meanwhile, the Leafs have Dennis Hildeby and Artur Akhtyamov between the pipes.
The Leafs could use some insurance right now, and a more proven veteran presence could certainly help this team find some steady ground.

Laurent Brossoit hits waivers

Interestingly enough, earlier today, the Chicago Blackhawks put goaltender Laurent Brossoit on waivers on the same day he was called up to the team.
The hope is that he goes back to the Rockford IceHogs, although there are plenty of teams who would be eager to scoop him up at a low cost.
Brossoit has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons and has not played in the NHL since the 2023-24 season. He has spent three games in the AHL in 2025-26, and seems poised for a comeback.

Why Brossoit is a fit for the Maple Leafs?

The great irony of suggesting that the Leafs pick him up is that just like the other goalies in Toronto, Brossoit is injury-prone. However, the difference is that right now, he has a clean bill of health.
Furthermore, Brossoit has more experience than Hildeby, who could crack at any moment. The same can be said for Artur Akhtyamov.
If Stolarz is going to be out until the New Year, Joseph Woll needs a steady backup. Not to mention, if Woll gets injured again, the Leafs can't rely on two 24-year-olds. Instead, Brossoit could come in and be that stable guy for insurance purposes.
It's an interesting proposal, and one that the Leafs should take seriously over the next 24 hours.
