Former Leafs defender finally reveals why he didn't re-sign in Toronto
The Toronto Maple Leafs obviously look like a completely different team than they did when the lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Florida Panthers, but with all the injuries on the back end, there's one particular player they let walk that they could use now. That defender is Luke Schenn who of course, signed with the Nashville Predators.
Now, Schenn sat down with Nick Alberga of the Leafs Nation to explain why he didn't end up re-signing with the Leafs; take a look. obviously things happen right after the year. You lose out on a tough series against Florida and like every year, you have your year end meeting and I met with Kyle and his staff. Obviously there's talk about coming back pending what was going to happen on his situation. At the end of the day, this game we all know it, it's the game we all love but it's a business.. Tre came in and we had some good conversations everyone wanted to make it work in reality they're tight against the cap and the business side of things came into it
From the sounds of it, there's no hard feelings between the Leafs and Schenn and it just came down to the flat cap not being able to fluctuate.
With that being said, Kyle Dubas leaving the Leafs in a bad cap situation, was why Schenn ended up not being able to come back.
