There's no question that the Toronto Maple Leafs are on the look out for defensive help due to injuries to Mark Giordano and John Klingberg, the latter of whom is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
The Maple Leafs have been linked to several names over the last few weeks, including Chris Tanev of the Calgary Flames and Ilya Lyubushkin . But now, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Maple Leafs have interest in San Jose Sharks blueliner Mario Ferraro.
Ferraro has appeared in 30 games for the San Jose Sharks this season where he's put up five points (one goal, four assists), 18 penalty minutes and is a minus-16 while averaging 22:32 time on ice per night.
With the Sharks in the midst of their rebuild, the team is going to be very active leading up to the trade deadline on March 8th with names like Anthony Duclair, Mike Hoffman and Kevin Labanc, along with Mario Ferraro, likely to draw interest.
