One name to keep an eye on throughout the month of February is Montreal Canadiens forward Sean Monahan, who's played very well so far this season after dealing with several injuries over the last few years.
Monahan was brought back by the Canadiens in the summer on a one-year contract worth $2 million, which, when combined with his 35 points in 49 games this season, makes him a very valuable option for teams around the league.
The expectation is that Monahan will fetch the Canadiens a first-round pick leading up to the deadline and while it's a hefty price to pay for a pending unrestricted free agent, his value is worth it as team's will have a hard time trying to find someone with the production he's had this season with such a low cap hit.
According to David Pagnotta, four teams have already been linked to Sean Monahan including Montreal's biggest rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs, along with the Colorado Avalanche, the New York Rangers and the Winnipeg Jets.
