Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz is currently negotiating a lucrative new contract, and talks are set to intensify over the next few days.
Anthony Stolarz was one of the best goalies in the entire NHL last season, and now that he is entering the final year of his contract, he is looking to get paid.
Overall, the goaltender certainly deserves a pay raise. A goals-against average of 2.14 and a save percentage of .926 speak for themselves. Add in four shutouts, and you have yourself a Vezina candidate.
According to reports, Stolarz and the Maple Leafs have been working on a new deal, although nothing has been finalized as of yet.
The length of the contract seems to be a source of agreement, while the money aspect, naturally, is something that both sides are still hard at work debating.

However, a new report from David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period suggests some good stuff is on the way for both sides of the negotiating table.
Both Stolarz and the Maple Leafs are motivated to get an extension done before October 8th, which is the first game of the regular season.
It really does feel as though a new contract is practically a done deal, or at least, will be imminent. This should be great news if you are a Leafs fan.
With Joseph Woll on an indefinite leave of absence, it feels like Stolarz will be the starter to begin the season, while Dennis Hildeby will be his backup.
However, we will likely see both Stolarz and Woll split the games like they did last season, which will certainly have to factor into any salary discussions.
Hopefully, the goaltending can be just as good this season as it was last season.
