Toronto Maple Leafs Put an Official Timeline on Simon Benoit's Return from Injury
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Simon Benoit has missed the first two preseason games with an injury, and now, we have an official update on his condition.
27-year-old defenseman Simon Benoit has a promising future with the Toronto Maple Leafs, even if he has had some growing pains over the last few seasons.
He is not an offensive juggernaut by any means, but he certainly adds some stability to the bottom defensive pairings on the roster.
With that being said, Benoit has had to miss some time at training camp with an injury. He missed out on the first two preseason games, and he is not expected to play tonight against the Montreal Canadiens.
Ultimately, it is a concerning injury, especially since the regular season is set to begin on October 8th, which is just over a week away at this point.
Toronto Maple Leafs hopeful about Simon Benoit
Thankfully, the Maple Leafs are finally releasing some good news as it pertains to Benoit. He is feeling better and is even skating on his own right now.
Meanwhile, head coach Craig Berube attempted to put a timeline on Benoit's return with four simple words that should inspire confidence in Leafs fans.
It shouldn't be long
There have been a couple of injuries to start Maple Leafs camp. Along with Simon Benoit's upper-body injury, Max Domi was dealing with a lower-body ailment.
Domi has since returned to training camp where he is looking to show that he deserves a spot on the first line with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies.
Hopefully, we get Benoit at 100 percent soon, and this season can officially kick off with a bang.
